An Open Letter to Editor Charlie Hebdo

Mr. Editor,

Charlie Hebdo

All religions and religious figures are sacred. They are loved n honored by their followers and hence need to be respected by the non followers too. More than one (1.5) billion People around the world believe in Islam and Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is the most respectable for them among all Prophets, including Jesus, Jacob, Abraham, Isaac Moses, Joseph and so on. Disrespect to any one of them is considered a SIN.
.
Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him) is dearer to all Muslims than their own lives and their own parents. Any insult to Him provokes anger and resentment among Muslims, no matter how rich or poor, how practicing or not practicing, how educated or not a Muslim is.
.
The sketches/ caricatures published in your magazine hurt the feelings of Muslims all over the world. Not every person thinks and reacts in the same way. Consequently it resulted in the killing of many people in Paris. It compromised the freedom of Parisians and decreased the sense of security among citizens.
.
It was not the first time that Western press insulted Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him). If the western media especially press continuously keeps provoking 1.5 billion people every now and then, I am afraid this kind of incident will increase.
.
I am not supporting the killings at Charlie Hebdo, no one should. Nobody has right to take a life except the case is prosecuted properly through a court of justice. Mohammd (Peace be Upon Him) told us that killing one individual (not Muslim but any PERSON) is equal to killing the whole of humanity. Therefore, if anyone is killing people on the name of Islam is even not a Muslim anymore. If people are killing or involved in terrorism, it does not malign the Prophet, Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him). He is not responsible for their bad deeds as he did not teach them to do this.
.
Making fun of a Prophet, who is dearer than life to more than 1.5 billion people, is an insult to the personality and to the humanity as well. It also hurts the feelings of 1.5 billion people sharing the same planet with you. Being citizens of a global village we have to give respect to all religions and their sacred personalities and places for a Peaceful World.
.
Regards
.
